Biography:
Ever since I was a little kid I can
remember being into music. Rock, alternative,
jazz, soul, retro and eventually 'dance'. My first
introduction to dance culture was in 1987 in small
town Texas. All of the right elements and the
all too often road trips to Dallas led to an enlightening
of sorts. I was hooked! Acid House was the catalyst
for the dance floor at that time and for the years
that followed...
My first
DJ gig came about at a Good Vibe Tribe Halloween
party called 'Howl' in 1992 playing ambient sounds
and abstract grooves in a side entry way that
served as one of the first 'chill out' rooms in
Dallas. From that the Hazy Daze Collective was
formed, known for free renegade parties and the
annual, highly anticipated event known simply
as 'Earth'.
These parties
were inspired by the previous antics of the UK
collective known then and now as DiY. These parties
went on for several years and in that time, the
landing pad hifi was born.
The landing
pad hifi provided relief to house riddled ears
and added a definate sense of experimentation
to the usual single sound system parties. Shortly
after the Earth party of 1994, Family Groove Sundays
at SOA began. Started primarily as a house night
this 'groove' soon opened Dallas minds once again
to sounds other than house music. It provided
yet another foundation for sound experimentation
as well as a steady weekly gig.
15 years
since the initial 'taste' and 10 years of DJ sets.
DJ Bonehead
currently resides in the NW USA and holds weekly
and one off events at several different locations
playing what he describes as Downtempo and Beyond...
Downtempo, NuJazz, fusion, neo soul, rhythm and
blues, broken beats and all the elements of deep
house music.
